Demand has continued to dramatically increase for Ashwagandha, an Indian herb which is currently being trialled in the treatment of long-COVID.
People with long-COVID can experience a number of symptoms including cognitive dysfunction, poor mental health, extreme fatigue and muscle weakness.
In a new partnership, The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) will work with the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) to trial whether Ashwagandha can help people recover from the condition.
More commonly known as the Indian Winter Cherry, the herb is traditionally used in the Indian Ayurvedic system of medicine to boost energy, reduce stress and strengthen the immune system. Experts say its efficacy in reducing anxiety, stress, improving muscle strength and reducing fatigue symptoms in patients with chronic conditions has been demonstrated in recent trials.
News of this research is expected to be greatly received by sufferers of long-COVID, as there is currently no evidence on the effective treatment or management of the condition.
Redrose already is producing a number of supplements containing the ingredient for customers worldwide. If you’d like to know more about Ashwagandha and our manufacturing process, get in touch here.
